A family-owned business for more than fifty years, Weber has grown to be a leading manufacturer of charcoal, gas and electric grills, as well as smokers and portables.

History
In 1952, after he became frustrated with the uneven and uncontrollable flame that open braziers provided, George Stephen, Sr., set out to build a better grill. Stephen worked at (and was part owner of) Weber Brothers Metal Works, a Chicago-based sheet metal shop that produced, among other things, spheres that were used for buoys. He split open one of them and fashioned a dome-shaped grill with a rounded lid, and the classic original Weber kettle grill was born.

Soon, his brainchild became so popular that Stephen formed a grill division for the Weber Brothers factory. In the late 1950s, Stephen bought out the Weber Brothers, and devoted all of his professional time to manufacturing and selling the Weber kettle. Subsequently, Stephen changed the company's name to Weber-Stephen Products Co.

Throughout the 1960s and '70s, Weber's reputation - and iconic name - rose to national prominence, eventually becoming synonymous with grilling itself. Today, the legendary company does business in 30 countries.
